Why shopping several factories in one place matters

Most homes on a retail lot come from a handful of manufacturers, and every factory has its own floor plans, construction standards, option packages and price points. When a dealer carries only one or two builders, you only see a slice of what's out there.

Meet the builders

Here's a short look at several of the manufacturers we carry, based on what the builders themselves have published.

Clayton. Clayton builds at several Texas plants, including two in Waco. Its Waco I facility opened in 1992 and built its 50,000th home in 2020. Waco II opened in 1993 and reached its 25,000th home in June 2025, and Clayton says 26 home models are built there.

TRU Homes. TRU is a Clayton line, and Clayton describes TRU homes as the most affordable of its off-site built homes, with floor plans from 765 sq. ft. to just over 2,000 sq. ft. It's a good place to start if you're watching your budget.

Legacy Housing. Legacy is a Texas builder that says it manufactures homes at three facilities in Fort Worth, Texas, Commerce, Texas and Eatonton, Georgia. Legacy also describes itself as one of the most vertically integrated companies in the industry.

Champion. Champion has several Texas plants. Its Navasota plant, in southeast Texas, is a 270,000-square-foot facility that local news reported would build manufactured, modular and park model homes.

Cavco (Seguin and Waco plants). Cavco's Waco plant on Gholson Road was formerly known as Fleetwood Homes and now operates as Cavco-Waco after a 2025 brand change. Cavco also has a plant in Seguin.
